Arcade Realism Handling 1.03

Note: This mod works best when having finer controls like a controller or steering wheel, rather than using the keyboard.
Update 1.03:
Added handling for the new vehicles from the LS Drug Wars DLC.
KOWN ISSUE: There is a strange bug with the Freight Trailer. It shares its handling settings with the Army Trailer and the Freight Trailer with the Cutter on top, but it just will not hitch to a truck, even though the others do. This causes the "off shore" path of the Merryweather Heist to fail once the truck with the sub arrives at the Sandy Shores airport.
I've been unable to fix this (so far). It's NOT an issue with the Packer, as other vehicles won't hitch either. Issue found by dceve
If you want to show your appreciation, you can always buy me a coffee.

ABOUT:
=======
I've worked for over 1,400 hours on modifying every single land vehicle in GTA V, including DLC vehicles. I've tried to find a nice balance between more realistic vehicle behaviour, and a fun/arcade style of driving. I sincerely hope you find this mod enjoyable.
- Pretty much every handling value has been edited. Mass, top speeds, acceleration, grip, inertia, suspension, drag and downforce, ...
- Vehicles have slightly less grip and braking force than the Vanilla game, but still enough to be fun and not make you miss a turn.
- Completely reworked the suspension. When upgrading suspension, most cars will receive stiffer springs and more traction!
- Crashes and accidents cause a bit more damage. If you don't like this, I recommend you buy armour for your vehicle.
- Vehicles have a better sense of weight to them.
- Removed ABS from older cars. Later vehicles from around the '90s have it as an option (Get in a Blista Compact and find out!).
- Some Super Cars like the Adder can reach 400 plus km/h, similar to their real life counterparts. In fact, all cars have speeds closer to their real-life counter parts.
- Some more advanced vehicle settings/handling flags that were only possible after later GTA updates have been applied to vehicles from before those updates.
- So much more... I even added some hidden features. (Let me know if you think you've found one!)
=============
INSTALLATION:
=============
Use OpenIV to replace the handling.meta file in the mods/update/update.rpf/common/data folder. Make a back-up if you want to. That's it.
Since all handling data is in one file, GTA V can crash loading in so many vehicles. To easily fix this, I recommend using these mods:

- https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/heapadjuster

The best vanilla handling mod I've ever used.
Vehicle details such as wheels turn, suspension feedback are perfectly tuned.
And most important, this mod supports MANY DLC vehicles !
@candy648 Pretty much. It worked, but for some odd reason the car's suspension begins to rise at higher speeds. This starts to affect grip and the car's centre of gravity.
So that's why I find it such a difficult decision. I'd love to keep kerb boosting disabled, because that brings its own problems, but this issue is pretty damn bad. I'll try some further experimentation, but if I can't find a way to fix this, I'm afraid I'll be forced to remove the fix.
@Quincunx Thanks man TOTO's gameconfig worked for me.
Hey, man! If you're not too busy, could you help me with a handling issue I've been having?
I'm trying to apply a new handling to the Benefactor Schlagen GT (mpchristmas2018), but it simply won't apply. When I test the vehicle in game, the same old vanilla handling is still in place. I've been editing handlings for a while and never had a problem, but this one is really testing me. Do you know what the issue may be here?
Thanks a lot!
Nice job,you atleast fix it,kurb boosting isnt that big of a thing anyway
@candy648 Maybe more than you think it is, because everything that will compress the suspension (kerbs, stairs, pot holes, bumps in the road, even trash) gives the driven vehicle a boost. The roads in GTA are rarely exactly flat (except at the airport or some industrial areas), so it matters more than you might think.
Anyway, I think I've tried everything I can to remedy it, but no luck. I'm afraid it'll just be one of the many things we just have to deal with.
Wow Very Great Job, now the suspensions are more realistic, more soft, great, and the cars now swing but don't skid when cornering, excellent result, you gave excellent cornering control and by making the suspension softer it also gave the cars that wobble that makes them realistic. Now it's really a pleasure to drive, very reminiscent of version 0.94.
The only thing I regret are the bikes, now they are less manageable and difficult to wheelie, in previous versions you were able to give the bikes enormous acceleration and speed, and a wonderful wheelie ease, hell I was able to wheelie even while the bike was still cornering, and you could wheelie up to over 180km / h.
But apart from the motorcycles the cars are fantastic, a really excellent job, don't change it, for the cars it is the definitive handling
@Animale Thank you, I appreciate the comment. I understand the bikes might not be to everyone's liking. Bear in mind they are way trickier to mod than cars. To achieve certain things, I had to make sacrifices here and there. I'll probably revisit them at some point, but right now I'm still suffering from PTSD from modding them :P
Hey @Quincunx, would this mod work well with your handling?
https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/true-realistic-driving-v-realistic-mass-v0-1-beta
Also, if yes - what values would You recommend? Would You recommend any other mods to make the driving in gta5 a more pleasant experience?
Thanks a lot for your contribution and great handling mod.
@LongTimeNoSee That mod seems to be an .asi file, so I don't think it'll interfere with my mod. I can't say what values I'd recommend, as I don't use any other handling affecting mods. I make the mod, so I can't have other mods interfere :P. I recommend you try for yourself! Experimentation can be great fun.
Thank You this works great for controller, except i don't like those insane speeds personally, I might change that MaxFlatVel in order to tame some beasts, hopefully it will work.
@ravensergio Thanks for your comment. I understand your point. If you change the top speeds, you'll probably want to lower the acceleration as well.
@Quincunx Thanks for responding. I did the acc at some extent also, so I now have a perfect handling for me, w/o insane speeds (I crash everywhere at those speeds since i don't seem to keep my finger on the trigger not-so-squeezy haha). Thanks for the effort.
@ravensergio You're welcome, and thank you for the five-star review :)
@Quincunx i sended you a private message, pls if you have time read it. I very appreciate it
Hello Quincunx, i'm making a handling mod with your handling.meta as a base. Every car has been changed some more than others, overall every car is slower closer to vanilla. Suspension wise the values are unchanged. Is it ok to post my config?
@dceve I can't say I'm happy about it. After all, I put in over a thousand hours of work.Just so you know this project is very dear to me.
Then again, I appreciate you asking permission, and I won't stop you if it isn't just a blatant copy. Just make sure you properly credit me, preferably up front. Okay?
@Quincunx Ofcourse i will credit you up front and even recommend it as an alternative for realistic speed. I Am still testing a few scripts settings and a custom materials.dat file.
@Quincunx
with the latest version of the game, inexplicably the game crashes before the loading screen, is it necessary to install some additional script to make it work properly?
Before version 2845 it was running great, maybe it has something to do with the second update.rpf folder that rockstar recently added?
@Animale I don't know. I haven't been able to work on the mod in months, due to unexpected and life changing events. I hope to find some time in upcoming weeks to look at it again.
sorry for this, I hope you will solve these unexpected problems that happened to you, I'm sorry.
Beyond that, I congratulate you again, you really did an excellent job with this handling, by far the best I've ever tried
